Travelling abroad has never been as popular as what it is today and every year more and more people book a holiday to some far away destination. Some of the most popular places to visit are America, Australia, France, Russia, Spain and Germany. Not only do people travel abroad to take holidays but a large number of people choose to work and live in other countries. In England we are very lucky to have the National Health Service which is the envy of the rest of the world.

Anyone living in England who falls sick can see a doctor and receive hospital treatment if necessary without paying anything. Other countries do not have this facility and most people take out insurance to cover the costs of any illness. English people living in Germany http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Germany may have problems whith communication unless they learn the language so learning German (Deutsch Lernen) as a second language will be very helpful. Although there is no National Health Service in Germany the health facilities are very good but it is essential to take out adequate insurance. By attending a language school and studying a German course (Deutschkurse) anyone will soon be able to speak and understand the health care staff should they need to visit the hospital.
People in England pay National Insurance Stamps to cover the cost of medical treatment. These are paid for by deductions from wages at the end of the month. When visiting other countries should illness or an accident happen we have to pay for medical care. The National Health Scheme only covers for illness or hospital care for people living in England. However, people who visit England from other countries will also be treated free should they need medical treatment. We are very lucky to have such a scheme because in other countries unless people take out insurance they cannot receive medical care. Whichever country you may decide to visit or work in it is always better to learn the language if possible. This way getting about and communicating will be so much easier. Many countries teach English to children at school from an early age. In England children are not taught a second language but many study different languages later as part of their GCSE exams or just for fun. Sometimes people who might have booked a holiday abroad take a short course to learn the language and a bit about the country they are hoping to visit. These short language courses are usually held during the winter when the nights are long and holidays are a long way off. This leaves plenty of time for them to learn some very useful phrases and words.
